sometimes the simplest the things make us stop and take a step back. and it’s those instances that most often than not leave an indelible mark on us. it could be a book or a poem. or sometimes even a simple cartoon strip.
that’s how we’d like to talk about davide bonazzi – not as person who creates art but as someone who makes us question ourselves and the world around us.
davide was born and raised in bologna, italy and earned his first degree at the faculty of arts and humanities at the university of bologna. he also studied illustration in milan at IED – european institute of design and at the academy of fine arts of bologna.
over the years, davide has turned seemingly complex current events into clever visual narratives. and in order to give his illustrations a warm feel, he combines textures of scanned objects with the digital medium.
this style is reflected in his work across a plethora of clients like the wall street journal, gq, wired, the huffington post, the economist, einaudi and a host of others. davide has also been recognized by the society of illustrators of new york, communication arts, american illustration, 3×3 proshow (bronze medal 2018), folio (ozzie award 2017), creative quarterly, bologna children’s book fair, hiii illustration (grand prix 2017), world illustration awards and has been featured in the lürzer’s archive 200 best illustrators worldwide 2016/17 and 2018/19.
