you walk around town and see buildings, pot-holes, weeds growing out of pot-holes, pipes. that’s what most people would see.
things for what they are.
but there are a few who see things for what they could be. things can could turn the everyday walk into something a lot more interesting. and that’s what street art really is all about. it’s not just about using public spaces as a canvas for art. but also to use a space no matter how small and bring it to life with something that others could never have imagined.
that’s what francois xavier donguy or efix as he is popularly known does.
born in lille, france, efix is a self taught, street artist and musician rolled into one.
in his street art, he uses a lot of characters that all of us have grown up with like the simpsons – who efix describes as the symbol of overconsumption in society or the disney characters who are also famous pop culture icons.
he uses objects that most of us would just pass by everyday and adds a character to that space that is relevant to just that space and setting. and the results sure do bring a smile to our face.
if you love your street art to be quirky, hop on over to jaune’s post – he is a belgian street artist who paints sanitation workers in a humorous series across the streets of belgium.
