enough and more has already been said about the covid-19 pandemic. many of us are living through it and making each day count. but there are many more who are trying their best to just survive. and we know it isn’t easy.
that’s what set the nice guys at the plated project into action. founded by chitresh sinha and supported by dhruvi shah (curator and head of design), kapil goswami (head of production and sourcing) and some of the most interesting artists from india and across the world, they’ve brought a pretty, lil idea to life that doesn’t just depend on donations.
the plated project is a simple and beautiful concept. the team reaches out to ngos every month and come up with a theme, they then discuss this theme with a set of artists, who then create art based on that theme. this art is printed onto limited edition plates and finally for every plate sold, the proceeds are given to the ngo and a portion to the artist. simple.
and best of all – they create only a few plates. so there will always be just a handful of people in the world who have that design.
up till now, the team has collaborated with artists like pavan rajurkar, annushka hardikar, narjes mohammadii, prashant miranda, santanu hazarika, srishti guptaroy, muhammed sajid, hanifa-abdul-hameed, aashti miller, zaynep-ozatalay, hana-augustine and many more.
together they’ve raised over 8 lakh rupees and sponsored over 1.4 lakh meals, in just 30 days.
we’ve curated a few of the designs that caught our eye. and if we really. really had to choose, we fell in love with the theme called a quarter of nostalgia.
