raking leaves isn’t something people look forward to. unless you’re probably in the business of raking leaves.
or you are joanna hedrick.
joanna is a student counsellor at sacramento state university in california, usa and every autumn she turns the university grounds into her canvas.
in 2013, she started raking leaves into artistic patterns so that kids had fun backgrounds in front of which she could take photographs. but this turned out to be even better than what she expected and her creations went viral on social media.
over the next few years, her designs have become even more complex and include concentric circles, spirals and labyrinths. with each design taking approximately 2 – 3 hours to complete, she usually creates 6 fall leaves decorations or should we say fall leaf crafts, during each season.
she says, “the designs take anywhere from two to five hours to complete and i generally work on them on the weekends, so the students, faculty and staff return to a beautiful surprise monday morning.”
